The Tarleton State University Wind Ensemble presents its spring concert, Future Legends. The program highlights up-and-coming performers and conductors, including winners of the Tarleton Wind Ensemble Concerto Competition, Ricardo Allen II and Akira Okamoto. Allen is featured on the Concerto for Soprano Sax and Wind Ensemble by John Mackey, and Okamoto as soloist on With Malice Toward None by John Williams. The concert features two guest conductors. Undergraduate Chad Wiley leads in a performance of Ignition by Todd Stalter, and graduate conductor Chris Moix conducts the ensemble in a performance of American Overture by Joseph Wilcox Jenkins. Joining these future legends are Tarleton music faculty members Drs. Brian Walker and Ben Charles, conducting Ride in a Fast Machine by John Adams and An American in Paris by George Gershwin/Brubaker, respectively. Rounding out the program is The Upheaval by David Pegel and First Suite in E-flat for Military Band by Gustav Holst. Dr. Gary Westbrook, associate professor and director of Tarleton athletic bands, conducts.
